Finish and Start

A Season of Gifts~Richard Peck
I read from page 11 to the end.

Over Christmas break I finished A Season of Gifts.  It was good and the back of the book was right.  Mrs. Dowdel was helpful and they did need her.  The epilogue said that that was the only Christmas that they had in that town.  Towards the end, they had a Christmas concert and Mrs. Dowdel helped Phyllis (even though she didn't realize it.)  Mrs. Dowdel came at the end and she said that there was a wedding.  Now Phyllis had been dating a boy who was not good and another girl liked him as well.  In fact, she had been dating him before their family even came.  Well at the concert, the people who were going to get married were the boy that Phyllis liked and the other girl.  That was a relief to Bob's parents and probably to Bob as well.  That way Phyllis didn't have to think about him anymore.  I don't want to spoil the book for you, so I am going to stop telling you about it and move on to the next one.

A Bundle Of Trouble~Kathryn Reiss
I read from page 1 to page 54.

The book is a Rebecca Mystery.  I am going to write the summaries about this book with Rebecca telling it to you.
It was Sunday and we were eating breakfast.  Father read us an article in the newspaper about a kidnapped baby that was found safe and sound.  I was so happy to hear that because I was worried about him.  We heard cries downstairs and we figured that they were the new neighbors that were moving in.  Mama, Benny, my twin sisters, and I went downstairs to meet them.  We saw that they had a baby.  Also we saw and heard that the Mother of the three person family had eye issues and could go blind.  The father worked two jobs to make ends meet.  Mama offered to take care of the baby for a little while.  I went for a walk with the baby to the Pharmacy and the park.  When I was there, I meet another girl with her little sister.  We sat on a blanket together and talked.  When it started to rain and it was time to go, the other girl whose name is Francesca wrapped the babies back up and we both left.  I went back the other day and helped with Nora or so I thought.  I started to unwrap her to give her a bath and realized that the rash she had yesterday was gone and her toenails were long when we had just clipped them.  Long story short, I had Francesca's little sister.  I started to frantically search and I will have more for you next week.

Key Question:  We have to structure our question, prediction, and connection again.

Topic Sentence:  This is a paragraph containing my question, prediction, and connection.
Major Supporting Detail #1  I wonder what Rebecca will do if she does find Nora.
-minor supporting detail #1  I wonder that because "Nora" is at home and if she found the real Nora, Rebecca would have to switch them without Mrs. Brodsky noticing.
-minor supporting detail #1  Another reason I wonder this is because if I were in her spot, I wouldn't know what to say to the parents.  You would have to say that this isn't your child and this really is.  They would never want you to take care of their child again.
Major Supporting Detail #2  I predict that Rebecca won't find Nora right away.
-minor supporting detail #2  I am only in the sixth chapter and the book is longer.  If they had her finding her right away, there would not be anymore story to really tell.
-minor supporting detail #2  Another reason that I think that she won't find her is because she doesn't know where Francesca's family lives.
Major Supporting Detail #3  My connection this week is that I like to take care of babies too.
-minor supporting detail #3  I like to be in the nursery at Church and I love to babysit.
-minor supporting detail #3  If I returned the wrong baby to somebody, I would be really scared just like Rebecca would be if she found Nora and returned her to her correct parents.
Concluding Sentence  I hope that from my summary, question, prediction, and connection that you will want to read the book and that maybe you can make your own prediction or connection.
